DAY 36 GIJON / SAN MARTIN

Publié le par Dominique Bengtsson

24 km (should have been 31 km ) blue sky. Really warm 27 degrees (feeling like much more). It took 6 hours to reach destination.

We walked one of the most boring bit of the Camino today. The first bit beside a road full of trucks and car was unnecessary dangerous. One wonders how many pilgrims they loose every year. The second part was quite nice and calm. And the third 7 km were supposed to be like the first few. So we cheated and took the buss. Christian, the German pilgrim decided to do that part of the Camino today, so that he would not need to begin with that boring part next time. Faithfully and according to the values of the Camino , we had a last meal together and we had an emotional goodbye at exactly the point where he will begin next time.

I began my walk alone to SAN MARTIN. It was very warm and as always there was a hard climb to reach the place. And what a nice place, it was a private donativo hostel. The owner decided that he was stressed and that he did not want to be the richest leak in the cemetery. He took an early pension, renovated an albergue and he takes care of pilgrims. The wife was very rare as well. She showed me the church and she gave me a private rum . We were five pilgrims that evening and that Swedish girl and her boyfriend arrived. I knew them from before and I hang with them for the moment.
