DAY 35 VILLAVICIOUSA / GIJON

30,5 km. Very warm blue sky 28 degrees. It took 7 and half hours to reach destination.

Very important walk. First it was during the first km that the decision Camino primitivo versus coast (del Norte) should be taken. I had more or less decided to continue the coast for different reason, the most important being my feet. It is not OK yet and I want to be able to have a check or buy other shoes if needed and I cannot do that on the primitivo. The second reason is the challenging aspect of the primitivo. Often 10 hours walk ( I am not sure I am up to it with that feet) Only pilgrims hostel and many people now....

It was also one of the most challenging walk so far, very much up and downs. But we made it !!!! We had the company of a polish pilgrim today and two French pilgrims.

I have met some French pilgrims and it will be funny to meet them again. Christian, the German pilgrim has reached his goal for this time. He will continue the Camino in one or two years. It has definitely become a friend and I hope to see him again together with his family. It is always sad when one pilgrim leaves but it is the way of the Camino...

I am one day delayed on my schedule and I will have to catch up some kilometers beginning tomorrow..
